We will be backpacking 8 miles on the western-most portion of the Lone Star Trail. This trip will involve basic overnight backpacking as an introduction to the hobby and to start working on our Troop’s goal of completing the entire trail over the coming year or two.
Click here to see a short video of a recent hike the troop made in the same area.
Troop loaner backpacks are available if needed.
7:00 pm to 8:30 pm at the Church in our normal meeting room
The long-range forecast is for highs in the low-50s to lows in the 40s. There is a chance for rain (it seems to always rain on the LST!)
Troop 11 has a good gear list for weekend backpacking here.
BRING PLENTY OF WATER CARRYING DEVICES - Camelback, Nalgene bottles, empty 2-liter soda bottles, empty juice containers with a screw on lid - make sure they do not leak before you bring it!
Troop 11 participants are required to have a valid BSA medical form on file. For this trip, only parts A and B are necessary. These parts do not require a doctor's examination or signature. The form is available at http://www.scouting.org/filestore/HealthSafety/pdf/680-001_ABC.pdf
